- I had my Sisterlocks started in August 1999. I don't remember the exact date, in fact I'm not sure that I have the right month. I was growing my hair out from a TWA and braids just weren't getting it; I couldn't stand the added hair. I wanted to lock but was hesitant. Would my hair even lock? Would I have to go for eons without washing my hair? I knew I couldn't do that. So I went on-line and started searching for people who provided natural hair care and stumbled across Sisterlocks. I thought, this is the thing for me so I called them and a day or two later they called me back with two local referals to call. It took several months after that initial call but eventually I did get Sisterlocks which leads me to where I am now.
